We are so action oriented. It’s hard to be patient. It’s hard to surrender. It’s really hard to just let things play out. But really, sometimes there is nothing to do. Or in doing we miss out on what was the actual point of the exercise. Kind of like asking someone a question and then not waiting for them to give an answer even though they are an expert in the field. What’s the point?
Like any conversation, let there be give and take. Don’t try so hard to find message and meaning in every single moment and every single action or event. The meaning might be in the bigger picture and you haven’t been through the entirety of it yet. And sometimes all the knowing the world doesn’t get you where you need to be, which is in the experience. You can know a million things and yet all that knowing can’t help you experience a sunset or a rose in bloom or that exquisite moment when someone you love is sharing themselves with you.
So take a step back and breath. Experience without trying to make meaning out of it. As the saying goes “Don’t just do something, stand there.” You’ll be better for it.
