For years the signature on my personal email has been:
“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways,
chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming
“WOO HOO what a ride!”
I think I might bring that back again. Because it’s so true.
A friend and I were talking the other day about the future and how we want to look back on our lives. I think this was brought on by observations about the 86 year old gymnast and a conversation on Facebook about a lovely woman who had a full bodysuit of tattoos and was in her 70’s or 80’s. Not our style of art, but she was beautiful nonetheless and rocked it. We want to be like that. We want to live our lives fully and still be rocking it when it comes to the end. We want to be dancing and gardening and traveling so much that our joints wear out and we just keep on going.
Put away the fear, put away the thoughts of doing it later when you’ve earned or when it makes sense. Believe me, it doesn’t make sense. Sense is what your brain makes of it after it’s all done. Which is its own form of crazy. Just get out there and live. That way, the next time you are here, this will be the past life you want to look at and relive.
Where’s my chocolate?
