So what do you do when you’ve done everything you can think of and the issue is still there? When you’ve asked for guidance and keep getting the same indecipherable answer, when you’ve tried everything that is logical, unlogical, inspired and desperate, and nothing makes a dent, when the movement you get is so infinitesimal that it doesn’t count, what then?
Well, here’s the thing. Stop doing. Yep. Just stop. Remember that thing: Everything I needed to know I learned in kindergarten? Well, you probably learned this around that time. If what you’re doing isn’t working, stop. Because you don’t get further along the more frenzied you get. You don’t get a resolution through getting more worked up and frustrated and out of control. You just do damage and damage relationships with other people, at least for the moment. Because the authorities don’t usually react well to crazy tantrums. So stop.
When you stop and give up and surrender and let go of everything, that’s when things get quiet and you can notice things. For instance you can notice the one friend who’s been telling you all along that there’s another way to do things. You’ve been ignoring them because you don’t want to do it that way, but now what they are saying seems like the only ray of hope. Or you get quiet and, once again *sigh*, the one thing you want to do least appears to be the only thing left to do. None of which makes it easier, nor will it be the perfect answer to the situation. If it were you would have done it a long time ago. Rarely is there a Disney moment in these things where everything falls into place. Most of the time this particular answer lies in the one area we are worst at doing/being/experiencing and it’s our least favorite and requires the most amount of work with, seemingly, the least amount of return with a maximum amount of discomfort in all aspects. 😛
But when it comes down to it, if you really want to get there, if you really want to make it to the next leg of the journey and you’ve exhausted all other options, then shoulder meet wheel. Here we go.
